Visit from our "brother"
This past weekend we celebrated homecoming at Pearce Baptist. Travis and I were thrilled to have the pastor from our church in Kings Mountain when we first got married, Chip Sloan, and his wife Martha, come to be the preacher for the service. We always called him "Brother Chip." We were thrilled that they were coming to spend the weekend at our house. I was in full-on hostess-prep frenzy! We had been telling Tyson and Juel about the upcoming visit. Tyson wanted to know when his brother was going to arrive! Ha! Later he told me "I thought a little brother was coming to our house." Precious! We had a great time with these dear friends, sharing our home, eating lots, and remembering fun times from our days at First Baptist. Travis was so happy to have Chip here to watch the Clemson game Saturday night...although they were both VERY unhappy about the outcome! We stayed up late talking and drinking coffee! Wild times with the preacher! The next morning we enjoyed a nice breakfast and headed to church. Brother Chip gave a wonderful sermon that made my heart full. After eating a huge homecoming meal, they hit the road. It was a sweet time of fellowship with two chosen-family members that helped shape our early marriage years. Tyson and Juel keep asking when the "brother" and his girl are coming back!
