We just enjoyed our first vacation as a family to the North Carolina Mountains. My Aunt Millie and Uncle Ed have a lovely mountain home in Blowing Rock and invited us to come visit. We-Travis, Mom, Tyson, Ralph, Nick and me arrived on Wednesday evening. Tyson did a wonderful job traveling...he did not cry the entire way!! We spent Sunday and Monday morning visiting, eating, and shopping around quaint little town. I just love Blowing Rock. It was so fun to push Tyson in his stroller! We also visited with Kala, our sweet friend from Kings Mountain, who is a student at Appalachain. We are praying for her parents, Chris and Donna, missionaries in Honduras. There is lots of turmoil in the country right now and they were urged to leave quickly. It is our prayer that their ministry will be able to continue even in their absence.
After leaving Blowing Rock, we went to our favorite little cabin in Weaverville, just outside of Asheville. Two years ago Travis and I surprised mom with a trip to the Biltmore. We stayed in this wonderful cabin called "The Pinecone." We loved it so much and have really wanted to return. It has a fantastic hot tub that overlooks the mountain range. It was a perfect place to relax! We were also able to spend time with Travis's Uncle Wilford and his wife Pearl. They enjoyed meeting baby Tyson! It was also fun to hike around with the dogs and of course do a little shopping! Most of all we just love to enjoy the lovely cabin. We are hoping to return for a Christmas time trip with all of Travis's family. Speaking of Christmas--mom and I are already having fun picking out gifts for Tyson!!!
Our next 'big' trip will be in two weeks...in sunny Florida with Jeff''s family! Right now I am just looking forward to Tyson's first 4th of July. I can't wait to dress him in his special bathing suit to celebrate one of my favorite holidays!!
